Meditation is one of the best answers to the question of how to change your life in 30 days or less. Many make the decision to meditate and then seem to get stuck on the getting started part or the getting it right part. The thing for you to know about meditation is that there really is no right way and in fact there are many ways that may or may not work for you. I have put together a short list of things to check out that may be your perfect route to get to where you want to go.
Body Meditation – this is simply a guided meditation for beginners where you are moving your awareness through each part of your body and contracting and releasing each muscle group you are focused on with each breath.
Guided CD – This is great for someone with lots of mind chatter – which is…well, everyone. It really works well to give your mind something to focus on.
Brain Wave Technology – of which the type doesn’t matter. This is like a sound mediation and you can kick back, do nothing and just relax. This is meditation on auto.
Make Your Own Meditation Audio – Similar to a guided CD you can make a meditation for yourself and the best part is the unique way that your mind responds to your own voice.
Join Another Meditator – Meditators are not necessarily a proud bunch and if you ask someone if you can join them they will possibly say yes. This will keep you accountable, as there will be someone with you through the process.
Join a Meditation Group – there are many, many meditation groups around. More then you might think just check Craigslist, your local bulletin boards and the flyers in health stores.
Get a Book – This is a great plan for those who are highly visual and really need to read what they should do and maybe see pictures.
If meditation is just slightly out of reach at this point then you can always try basic breathing techniques or some relaxation techniques for anxiety. These both lead down the road to meditation but may not feel as intimidating if you are just getting started.
